Iran, Brazil consider expanding mining cooperation
TEHRAN – Iran and Brazil are planning to expand cooperation in the mining sector, according to Iran Mine House (IMH) director Mohammadreza Bahraman.
Mentioning a recent visit by a Brazilian delegation to the IMH, Bahraman noted that the two countries have great potential for cooperation in mining and mineral industries, especially in machinery manufacturing, IRNA reported.
According to Bahraman, the mentioned delegation was made up of senior Brazilian officials, including the chairman of the Brazilian Parliamentary Friendship Group, the chairman of the Brazilian Mining Commission, as well as the country’s ambassador and trade attaché in Tehran.
During the meeting, it was decided to prepare a Memorandum of Understanding for technical cooperation, supply of mining machinery and attraction of investments for both sides.
The MoU is expected to be signed in the near future, Bahraman said.
As a result, it was also decided to continue the reciprocal meetings in Iran and Brazil with the presence of representatives of the governmental and parliamentary sectors of the two countries, as well as of the private sectors of the two countries, added the official.
“During the meeting, the Brazilian delegation presented a comprehensive report on the content of its activities and presented a review of the country’s mining law with a look at foreign investment and the private sector,” he said. note.
Bahraman further mentioned Brazil’s significant mining activity, noting that more than 200,000 mines had been auctioned in the country in the past year and that a low turnout had resulted in a change in the law. Brazilian mining company.
The head of the IMH also highlighted Brazil’s great capacity to produce mining machinery and the extensive cooperation of its mining companies with major American, German and Japanese brands, which could be of great benefit to Iranian mining companies.
Brazil is one of the world’s leading countries in the mining industry and is one of the world’s largest suppliers of iron ore; the country uses its own technologies in the field of exploration and extraction.
