Iranian bookstores share “The Adventures of Miss Petitfour”
TEHRAN – Canadian novelist and poet Anne Michaels’ first children’s book “The Adventures of Miss Petitfour” has been published in Persian by Afarinegan.
Nilufar Dehqaninil is the translator of the beautifully illustrated book.
The magical adventures of an eccentric Mary Poppins heroine and her flying feline charges are sure to charm readers young and old.
Miss Petitfour likes to have “just the right size – fitting into one magical day” adventures.
She is an expert in baking and catering fancy ice cream cakes, and her preferred means of transportation is by plane. On windy days, she takes her sixteen cats on the air: Minky, Misty, Taffy, Purrsia, Pirate, Mustard, Moutarde, Hemdela, Earring, Grigorovitch, Clasby, Captain Captain, Captain Catkin, Captain Clothespin, Your Shyness and Sizzles .
With the help of her favorite teacloth as a makeshift balloon, Miss Petitfour and her charges fly over her village, having many little adventures along the way.
Join Miss Petitfour and her equally eccentric felines on five magical outings – a search for marmalade, a spring sale, a quest for the “birthday cheddar”, the recovery of a lost rare stamp and as they take part in the annual village scalloping festival.
This is a collection of whimsically and beautifully illustrated tales that celebrate language, storytelling and small pleasures, especially those that are edible!
Michaels’ work has been translated and published in over 45 countries. Her books have won dozens of international awards, including the Orange Prize, Guardian Fiction Prize, Lannan Award for Fiction, and Commonwealth Poetry Prize for the Americas.
