Iranian Foreign Minister calls for development of Tehran-Sofia relations

Hossein Amirabdollahian in a message on Wednesday warmly congratulated his Bulgarian counterpart Teodora Genchovska on the European country’s national day.

His message indicates that the long-standing historical ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Bulgaria have created strong ties between the two countries, the Iranian Foreign Ministry website reported.

The message adds that the commemoration of the 125th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations this year will mark a turning point in the relations between Tehran and Sofia.

“I hope that by using this capability, we will more than ever witness the development and strengthening of the bilateral and international relations of the two countries in all political, economic and cultural fields and in accordance with the interests of the two nations,” he said. -he adds. kept saying.

During a telephone conversation with Amirabdollahian in September 2021, Bulgarian Foreign Minister Svetlan Stoev expressed his country’s willingness to expand relations with Iran.

Amirabdollahian also stressed the need to strengthen trade relations between Tehran and Sofia considering the capabilities of both nations.

The two senior diplomats also weighed plans to convene a political advisory committee, hold a meeting of the Joint Economic Commission, launch direct flights between the two countries and pave the way for cooperation in the industrial, scientific, technological and tourist sectors.
