SpiceJet announced on Wednesday that it has partnered with the startup eee-Taxi to deploy a fleet of electric vehicles for the movement of its employees to reduce logistics costs, travel time and carbon footprint. “In the first phase, the airline has deployed a fleet of premium (electric) vehicles in the Delhi-NCR region, including Gurgaon, Ghaziabad, Noida, Greater Noida and Faridabad,” the SpiceJet statement read.

The airline is now planning to expand the service to all of India gradually, he said.

The move aims to significantly reduce employee logistics costs, travel time and carbon footprint, fulfilling its commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals, he said.

Eee-Taxi’s smart algorithm will help the airline optimize operations by reducing travel time to airports while improving travel and trip management, he said.

“By optimizing routes and cabins, the airline plans to reduce costs by up to 30% per vehicle over a 12-hour horizon,” he noted.

All operation of these electric vehicles will be controlled through the Network Operation Center (NOC) managed and controlled by Spicejet, he said.

“The e-Taxis will undergo quality checks to ensure prompt shipment and constant tracking to provide a seamless and safe experience for all airline crew members,” he added.
