Yerevan hosts the 17th meeting of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Committee
TEHRAN – Iranian Energy Minister Ali-Akbar Mehrabian, who traveled to Yerevan to attend the 17th meeting of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Committee, met with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan on Tuesday evening.
During the mentioned meeting, officials discussed preparations for the Joint Economic Committee meeting, Iranian Energy Ministry portal Paven reported.
During this meeting, which was attended by a large number of vice-ministers, senior officials, ambassadors and parliamentarians of the two countries, the main issues that play a key role in the development of relations between the two countries were discussed.
According to the officials, the goal of holding the 17th meeting of the Iran-Armenia Joint Economic Committee is the real and tangible development of relations between the two countries.
Among the issues raised at the meeting were transit, transport, trade facilitation and broader energy cooperation.
After Tuesday’s meeting, the 17th meeting of the two countries’ Joint Economic Committee officially kicked off on Wednesday, and four specialized committees, including energy, trade, cultural heritage, tourism and transportation, began their negotiations.
The first day of the meeting of the Joint Economic Committee of the two countries was held at the level of the secretariats.
Iran and Armenia have taken serious steps to strengthen economic ties in accordance with the positive political relations of the two countries.
In late April, Iran’s Finance and Economic Affairs Minister Ehsan Khandouzi led a delegation visiting Armenia for talks with the country’s top officials in a bid to expand economic ties between the two nations.
During the visit, Khandouzi met with Armenian Deputy Prime Minister Mher Herbert Grigoryan, the country’s Economy Minister Vahan Kerobyan and Finance Minister Tigran Khachatryan.
The official discussed preparations for holding the 17th meeting of the Joint Economic Committee of the two countries during his meetings with Armenian officials.
